New features and enhancements
Improvements to the Relais ILL and Relais D2D staff portal version 3.12
Improved screen reader functionality for greater accessibility
Multiple improvements have been made in order to provide a better screen reader experience and to enhance accessibility. Most of these improvements are not noticeable visually, but include:
- Adjustments to headers, footers, lists, search boxes and button padding for greater accessibility and a better screen reading experience.
- Countdown timers that weren't read by screen readers have been removed.
- If you're using a screen reader you will be alerted non-visually that the page has refreshed in the staff portal.
Improved performance and faster loading when pages are opened or refreshed
Pages will now load faster when navigating within the Staff Portal. There will also be additional visual queues that the page is loading.
Dialog boxes automatically closes when action is successful
When working in the staff portal, dialog pop-up boxes will now close automatically when the action is successful. This applies to the Audit Note, Additional Notes, Patron Record, Message Patron, Additional Charges, and Change Request Queue action boxes, as well as others.
When a patron submits a request for renewal, the renewal box will be closed automatically when the request is successful. Previously, there was a countdown timer on these boxes before they were automatically closed.
Add additional custom audit note when using the change request queue feature
The dialog box that appears when you change a request's queue now has a note field so you can leave a note regarding the reason for the change and see it in the queue.
Once submitted, the note appears in the notes column of the request history:
Retain other selections when changing service type in Add Request
When adding a request, the values in the other Request Info tab fields (publication type, preferred format, and request source) will be retained when the service type is changed. Previously, changing the service type was resetting all the pre-selected values within the staff portal to the default value.
Successfully transfer more file types to Docline
You can now upload files with the MIME type of XML that have a .txt extension. These files are now supported and will be converted in the back end. Previously, these types of files would fail on upload.
If you'd like to take advantage of uploading the straight HTML so that the backend processes convert it automatically (as opposed to using the Docline converter) please contact support@oclc.org to enable that feature.
Improvements to request locking for better request processing
If you close the request tab or exit out of your browser window, the system will attempt to unlock the request automatically so that request processing can continue.
Previously, if a staff member exited the request or left the portal completely by closing the browser window, the request would remain locked until a staff member unlocked it or until 10pm Eastern, when a system-wide job ran to unlock requests.
Reliably copy text using the Copy button
Improved performance of the copy buttons in the Bib Info and Request Info tabs means that you can more reliably copy the contents of a populated field. Previously, successfully using the copy button was inconsistent.
Improved Move to Next event logic for requests in the scanner update queues
Requests in the scanner update queues will only be moved to delivery once the request has been updated by the update process. Previously, some requests were being unexpectedly picked up by the move to next process prematurely.
If you're using the .Net request flow system and would like to utilize the Move to Next service please contact support@oclc.org.
