Records flagged as a government document

With this new feature, Choreo Insights uses a simple Yes/No flag to indicate which records are identified as a government document and which ones are not. Records are flagged as a government document if any of the following conditions are met:

  • The presence of a GPO government document number (located in the MARC 074 field)
  • The presence of a government document classification number (located in the MARC 086 field)
  • The government document indicator (located in the MARC 008 field, subfield 28) contains one of the following values:
    • a - autonomous or semi-autonomous component
    • c - multilocal
    • f - federal/national
    • i - international/intergovernmental
    • l - local
    • m - multistate
    • o - government publication-level undetermined
    • s - state, provincial, territorial, dependent, etc.

Filter Values

In the government document filter there are three different values that users can choose from. The default value is No Restrictions.

  • No Restrictions - Selected by default. Will not restrict your Choreo Insights query by any government document flag.
  • Government Documents - Will restrict your Choreo Insights query to those records with the government document flag set to yes.
  • Not Government Documents - Will restrict your Choreo Insights query to those records with the government document flag set to no.

FAST Phrase OR searching

Choreo Insights now gives you and your library the ability to conduct expanded FAST phrase searches in your Choreo Insights queries. Previously, Choreo Insights FAST phrase searches were restricted to a single phrase and a single facet. Now, multiple FAST Phrases with differing facets can be selected, giving you the ability to expand your search across multiple subjects. This enables you to build robust discipline or multi-disciplinary profiles for collection development or DEI analysis.

Adding a New Phrase

You can add a new FAST phrase to your search by opening up the FAST Heading query filter located on the left hand side of the screen. From here you will choose the appropriate Facet for the FAST phrase search you are looking to use in your search. The list of available facets can be found here. After you add the phrase you want added to the text box under Phrase you can click the 'ADD' button to make it part of the current query.

The list of FAST phrases currently active in the query are listed in pills under the Active Filters area. The various phrases are separated by a | (pipe) character which represents an 'OR' operator. By specifying a word or phrase you can pull back all materials that have that word or phrase in a FAST heading associated with those titles. Adding additional phrases searches using this new feature gives your library the opportunity to build a detailed query result.
