Introduction

This release of Choreo Insights provides a number of new features and enhancements in addition to numerous bug fixes. These features will help you manage more complex workflows, including:

Many of these enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.

Recommended actions

For this release, we recommend that you review the following checklists and complete the relevant tasks so that you can adjust your policies and workflows and train your staff. These checklists identify updates that we have determined as significant for most institutions. We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether other items may require additional action or follow up by your institution.

Follow-up actions

In an effort to keep your staff informed of new features and changes, you may also want to consider these items.

Action

One change in this Choreo Insights release is the exposure of Missing or Invalid Call Numbers. You will no longer see the unassigned label and will get to see the raw call number. If you notice call number issues and wish to have them remediated, please contact bibchange@oclc.org.

The Choreo Insights new account email and password reset emails have changed following this release. To increase visibility and make the onboarding process easier, these emails now contain better instructions and better messaging around the sender.

New features and enhancements

Shared Print Retention Filtering

Chore Insights now allows you to filter your Choreo Insights queries by Shared Print programs and retentions in WorldCat. This new functionality gives your library the ability to explore shared print retentions set against all of WorldCat, as well as against specific shared print programs. This new filter is available under the Query Filters area, allowing you and your library to combine shared print retention filtering with other filters to enable greater collection analytics. Shared Print retention filtering will also apply to both the A group and the B group in Choreo Insights, giving your library the ability to explore shared print commitments for institutions across WorldCat.

Checking Shared Print Retentions

To check various shared print retention levels you will first need to select if you would like to limit the query by the Same Edition or Any Edition. OCLC Number is the default option. Next, you will need to select how you want to search for retentions. The operators you can choose from include Fewer Than, Equal To, More Than, or Between. Here are some basic recipes to help you explore retentions:

  • Titles that don't have retentions set - Set the filter to Shared Print Retentions Equal To 0
  • Titles that could be under-retained - Use the Less Than filter
  • Any title that has a retention set on it - Set the filter to Shared Print Retentions More Than 0

After you set the operator and number of retentions you wish to limit your query to, you can now choose to search all WorldCat for these retentions.

You can also choose to limit your query to specific shared print programs.

Exporting your results

As with other Choreo Insights queries, you and your library can export the results of your query via CSV. With this new shared print functionality comes a new column in the Choreo Insights export. This column is called WorldCat Retaining Libraries and contains the symbols of libraries that have retentions set against that title.

Added Holdings Details

Choreo Insights now gives you and your library the ability to see which OCLC symbol(s) hold the titles returned in your query results. This enhancement is a direct result of your feedback. This addition makes it easier to see holdings information when performing 'All' queries or performing comparisons with comparator groups containing multiple institutions. This group holdings information is available in the Choreo Insights export and can be found in the new column called Group Holding Libraries. The symbols returned in this column will correspond to number of Group Holding libraries (same edition).
