Why am I getting an error message instead of additional database recommendations when searching remote databases in WorldCat Discovery?

Symptom
  • When a patron is performing a search which includes remote databases, they don't see suggested databases and instead see a message stating "See additional databases. No results found." or "Unable to retrieve results. Visit database to view results".
Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Resolution

If results are not being returned for remote databases, verify the correct credentials are listed by following these steps:

  1. Log into the OCLC Service Configuration
  2. Click Metasearch Content > Default Databases and Licensed Content > Configure Databases to Search
  3. Under the Remote Databases tab, verify the credentials listed for Username and Password for your selected databases. If needed, enter correct credentials and Save your changes.

If you do not know if the credentials entered are correct, please check with your database provider.
