Discover how to download the WorldCat Find app to your mobile device, set your location, and edit your profile.

 Note: WorldCat Find is only available in the United States at this time.

Download the WorldCat Find app to your mobile device

  1. Download the app from the Apple or Google Play app store by either searching for WorldCat Find in the app store or using a link below.
  2. The WorldCat Find splash screen appears the first time you open the app. Tap one of the following options:
     Note: By tapping Start here, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the OCLC WorldCat.org Services Terms and Conditions and the OCLC, Inc. Privacy Statement.
    • Create an account - Tap if you want to create a WorldCat.org account. A WorldCat.org account allows you to create lists. If tapped, you'll be directed to the Create a WorldCat.org Account, where you can create an account by:
      1. Completing the following fields:
        • Dirección de correo electrónico

        • Confirm password - A confirmation message appears if the passwords entered match. A warning message appears if the email address entered is not valid or the passwords entered do not match.
      2. Selecting your Country/Region from the drop-down list.
      3. Tapping the I agree to the OCLC Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and confirm that I am at least 16 years old check box.
      4. Tapping Create WorldCat.org Account.
    • Already have an account, sign in - Tap if you want to sign in using your WorldCat.org account. After tapping, you'll be prompted to:
      1. Enter your WorldCat.org account email address and tap Continue to sign in.
      2. Enter your WorldCat.org email address and password and then tap SIGN IN.
    • Continue as a guest - Tap if you want to search WorldCat Find without any additional features.
  3. From the Find items near you screen, select one of the following:
    • Allow - Location services are enabled. You'll be taken to WorldCat Find's homepage.
       Note: By selecting Allow, you choose to allow WorldCat Find to automatically detect your location using your device's GPS. Your location is used only to find library items near you. If you choose to allow location access, it is only captured when you choose to update your location. Your location is not tracked while you are not using the app.
    • Not now - Location services are disabled. If you select this option, you'll be taken to the Location services disabled screen. From this screen:
      • To find nearby locations that hold items related to your search:
        1. Enter your city name or postal code in the Address or postal code text field. This is an auto-suggest text field. Auto-suggestions for field-appropriate elements start after the third keystroke in the text field.
        2. Tap your location in the suggested location drop-down list.
        3. Tap Continue to be taken to WorldCat Find's home screen.
      • To decline nearby location suggestions and be taken directly to the WorldCat Find home screen, tap Skip setting location.

 Note:  If you choose to sign in with your WorldCat.org account or create a WorldCat.org account, you'll remain signed in to WorldCat Find for 90 days if you don't sign out.

Add or update your location

If you choose not to initially share your location or want to change it, you can enter it at any time from WorldCat Find.

  1. Tap Set your location if you did not share your location initially.
    Or
    Tap the location above the search field if you want to change your location.
  2. From the Location dialog:
    1. Enter your city name or postal code in the Address or postal code text field. This is an auto-suggest text field. Auto-suggestions for field-appropriate elements start after the third keystroke in the text field.
    2. Tap your location in the suggested location drop-down list.
    3. Tap Update.
      Or
      Tap Use my location to use your exact location.

Update your WorldCat Find profile

  1. Tap Profile in the bottom navigation to open the Profile screen.
  2. From the Profile screen, you can update any of the following:
    • Display name - Tap to update your display name associated with your WorldCat.org account. Click Update to save your change.
    • Username/Email - Tap to update the email address associated with your WorldCat.org account. Click Update to save your change.
    • Change password - Tap to update the password associated with your WorldCat.org account. You'll be redirected to the Change Password screen where you'll need to:
      • Enter your current password.
      • Enter your new password.
      • Re-enter your new password to confirm.
      • Click CHANGE PASSWORD to save the change. Click Done to return to WorldCat Find. 
    • Public account - Select whether you want your WorldCat.org to be public or private.
    • Updates - Select whether you want to receive updates about events, services, and information from nearby libraries.  You'll need to have location services enabled to benefit from this option.

Sign out of WorldCat Find

  1. Tap Profile in the bottom navigation.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Sign out. The next time you launch WorldCat find, you'll need to tap Profile > Sign in or create an account and follow the instructions in step 2 under Download the WorldCat Find app to your mobile device.
