New features and enhancements
Add additional subfields to controlled names
When working in the MARC 21 editor, you can add relator codes and relator terms to controlled names in the following fields: 100, 110, 111, 700, 710, 711
Click on the arrow to expand the guided entry link. Select an item from the list, enter data in text box, and click Done.
Root/expanded available for LC browse
Root/expanded indexing is a two-layer approach to phrase indexing, which is currently only available to the Library of Congress Name and Subject authority file. This indexing breaks a single heading into two separate parts, designated as “Root” and “Expanded”, respectively. This indexing allows the user to broaden or narrow their search, given what information they have available. The concept is especially helpful for root headings that have a significant number of expanded terms, for example, the composer Beethoven, who has over 900 entries in the expanded index. The expanded index allows a user to navigate within the index independently having to re-enter the root term.
Search the LC History File
When working with LC authority records, you can view the current version and all changes made to an authority record using the LC authority history file.
All Preferences in One Location
All Record Manager preferences are now found on the Preference tab. Click on the arrow to open the area you want to update.
New preference for Heading Linking Entries in search results
You can now use a preference to see heading linking entries in your search results. For authority references, enable Show Heading Linking Entries in search results to view 7xx links in authority record search result lists if present in the records. The 7XX Heading Linking Entry fields provide a machine link within a system between equivalent or hierarchical headings whether they are structured in the same or different form, are from the same or different authority files or printed thesauri, or whether they exist as separate authority records.
Bug fixes
Index display order in Advanced Search preferences
When you deselect an index from the Searching - Advanced accordion in Search Preferences, the index is now removed from the index drop-down list.
OCLC number in My LBDs search
When you perform an OCLC number search scoped to My LBDs, it now works on the control number for the master bibliographic records.
Reset Form button in Search preferences does not work in some cases
In Search Preferences, the Reset Form button now works in the following instances:
- From the Search - Advanced accordion:
- The Reset Form button sets the Language of Cataloging back to the default.
- The Reset Form button sets the Source of Cataloging back to the default.
- From the Working with Records accordion:
- The Reset Form button sets the Default Editor back to MARC 21.
- If you set the Default Editor to Text View and then click Create WorldCat Record, the Text View editor appears.
Records exported in MARC XML format missing <collection> tag
The <collection> tag is not being added to records exported in MARC XML format.
Known issues
Bibliographic records derived using the Derive Electronic Record action cannot be saved to Save In-Progress files
When a bibliographic record is derived using the Derive Electronic record action, it cannot be saved to Save In-Progress files. The newly derived record must be added to WorldCat before the end of the session to preserve the template and any edits made.
Initial article for field 245 in Derive Electronic Record Advanced Action
The initial article from field 245 is being transferred to field 776 $t. This will be corrected in a future release. The workaround is to remove the initial article manually and change the second indicator to zero before you send the command to Derive Electronic Record.
Entire field removed from export
When you exclude data to removing specific subfields from exporting, the entire field is excluded during export. Workaround: Remove the subfield after the export is performed.
Shortcut for label printing
When you are in an LHR and attempt to use the shortcut key for label printing twice in one field, you only receive one entry on the label list. Workaround: Click on a new field within the LHR and execute the shortcut key again.
