Why are items that are received in Acquisitions going straight to an Available status?

Applies to
  • WorldShare Circulation
  • WorldShare Acquisitions
Answer

First, check the In Processing Mode in the Collection Type Policy - if it's set to None then those items will go straight to Available status.

On an Acquisition order, when a patron name is entered in the Requestor field and the Place Patron Hold option is selected for that order, receiving that order will put the item in an Available status, regardless of the location policy.

This is so when a patron requests an item, the item can be created and a hold immediately placed. Acquisitions will warn the staff user that the item was requested for a specific patron if the library wants to expedite processing.
