Why is a knowledge base link not appearing on a title in WorldCat Discovery?

Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Answer
  • First, make sure that you have the monograph or journal title selected in Collection Manager. If it's an article record, make sure that the article falls within your coverage date range.
  • Only certain publication types and coverage depths surface links in WorldCat Discovery. See Publication types and coverage depths that surface links.
  • To surface knowledge base links on article records, WorldCat Discovery uses the ISSN or title (more than 3 words match not including articles like "a" "the") to look for a match in the knowledge base. If this is not present in the article metadata, a knowledge base link will not appear.
  • To surface knowledge base links on monograph title records (ie. eBooks, eVideo, eAudio), WorldCat Discovery uses the OCLC number, ISSN/ISBN, or title (more than 3 words match not including articles like "a" "the") to look for a match in the knowledge base.
  • If you have a title selected in more than one collection from the same provider, where the titles have exactly the same URL and share the same coverage, then the entries will be de-duplicated in WorldCat Discovery, and will only present one of those links on the item record.
