Is it okay to delete a shelving location if there are still records associated with it?

Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Answer

You don't want to delete a shelving location until you are certain it is not on any records in your collection. To verify that a shelving location is not on any records in your collection, search the shelving location in WorldShare Record Manager using the following settings:

Data Type: Local Holdings Records
Scope: My LHRs
Index: Branch/Shelving Location
Branch: choose the branch you want to search
Shelving Location: choose the shelving location you want to search

Note: If you have already removed the shelving location, you won't be able to do the search above. Either add the shelving location back so you can do the search above, or search the shelving location in WorldCat Discovery using the Shelving Location Search index (b8:) (e.g., b8:Anesthesia Nursing).
