Buttons

Discover how to add, edit and delete the buttons included on screens in the CapiraMobile Staff Dashboard.

Overview

Buttons can be added to the default Welcome screen and any custom screen. Buttons allow you to link to standard and custom screens within the app, or to external web addresses.

Add a button

  1. From the left navigation, under the Elements menu, select Screens > Manage Screens.
  2. Click Edit Buttons in the Action column for the screen you want to add a button to.
  3. Click Add New in the top right.
  4. On the Create New Button screen, fill in the applicable fields. See Button fields for more information.
  5. Click Add Button.

Edit a button

  1. From the left navigation, under the Elements menu, select Screens > Manage Screens.
  2. Click Edit Buttons in the Action column for the screen with the button you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit to the right of the button's title.
  4. Update the information in any of the applicable fields. See Button fields for more information.
  5. Click Save Edits.

Button fields

Fill in the values described below when creating or editing a button.

Value title Descripción
Button Title A brief title for the button. This will appear below the button image in the app.
Descripción An optional short description of what the button does. This will appear below the button title.
Action From the drop-down list, select the standard or custom screen that the button will take the user to. See Standard screens for more information.
Action Value

For some actions, an associated action value can be entered to be acted on for a button press. If no action value is entered, the results of the button press will vary depending on the action.

Action name Descripción
Action - Call

Upon button press, if an action value (phone number) is provided:

  • The user's default phone app opens with the phone number provided automatically populated.

Upon button press, if no action value is provided:

  • A pop-up screen opens with a list of your branches and their primary phone numbers, as added in the general settings for the branch.
Action - Email

Upon button press, if an action value (email address) is provided:

  • The user's default email app opens with the address provided for your library automatically populated into the To field.

Upon button press, if no action value is provided:

  • A pop-up screen opens with a list of your branches and their primary phone numbers, as added in the general settings for the branch.
Action - SMS An action value (phone number) is required.
Action - Website An action value (website URL) is required. 

 Note: If your website links are not working in the app, please try adding or removing http://www. from URLs entered in the Staff Dashboard.

Image Select the image you would like to use for your button by clicking on Media Library.

 Note: An image must already be in your media library for you to use it. See Media for more information.

Delete a button

  1. From the left navigation, under the Elements menu, select Screens > Manage Screens.
  2. Click Edit Buttons in the Action column for the screen the button is on.
  3. Click Delete to the right of a button's title.
  4. In the Delete dialog, confirm that you want to delete the button.
